Notable Links This Week
Sorry about the delay but I found a couple of interesting links over the last few days that readers might want to check out:
President Obama Flyfishing in Montana
Great to see the President flyfishing and having fun on a Montana river back in August. If you are a big fan of the President you might get a kick out of these photos posted by the White House. I’m not sure if he caught anything though during his outing. No confirmation. Anyone on his staff want to elaborate? Also, if he needs a guide here in Hawai’i, please let me know, my friend and I will get him some hanapa’a action!
Flyfishing on Moloka’i
As you all know, I’m also an avid saltwater flyfisherman, so this video from Captain Clay of Hallelujahou Fishing on Moloka’i was an eye-opener. My best friend, Miles Arima, has family on the island and it’ll be fun to meet up with the captain soon.
Extreme Carp Air
Wo! this story is not for the faint-hearted and might make your girlfriend/spouse think twice about going fishing with you the next time. Field and Stream Magazine, an awesome outdoor magazine, did a story on extreme aerial bowfishing and a freak accident that shows the fisherman’s fiancee getting “false cracked” in the jaw by a flying carp. Just looking at the pictures makes me “cringe”! Check it out !
Anyway, any comments will be much appreciated and don’t forget to get Hawaii Fishing News this month as my article on Honoli’i (Big Island) is featured.

I used to go out for o’io on the flats outside of Keehi Lagoon by Honolulu Airport - not fly fishing though. What great fish to catch they are.

[...] The President and his ‘ohana arrived yesterday to spend their holidays in Hawai’i for rest and relaxation. I’m hoping he’ll find some time to visit the other islands, especially the Big Island. If not, he can go flyfishing with me and Reef Rippas Hawai’i as he did in Montana. [...]
